Why it was recalled
According to the RAPEX notice, the identified hazard is: The plastic material of the product contains short chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) and an excessive amount of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (measured values up to 4.83 % and 2.85 % by weight, respectively). The metal solder in the product contains an excessive amount of lead (measured value up to: 0.21 % by weight). SCCPs persist in the environment, are toxic to aquatic organisms at low concentrations and bioaccumulate in wildlife and humans, posing a risk to human health and the environment. Lead poses a risk to the environment and is harmful to human health, as it accumulates in the body, can cause developmental neurotoxicity and may affect breast-fed or unborn children. Phthalates may harm the health of children, causing possible damage to their reproductive system.
