Reported risk: Issue:
On certain side-by-side UTVs, the chassis wiring harness and/or alternator cable may not have been routed properly. As a result, they could become damaged by contact with the negative battery terminal and cause a short circuit.
Safety Risk:
A short circuit can create the risk of a fire.
Corrective Actions:
To reduce the safety risk, Polaris will provide you with precautions to take and advise that you should park your UTV outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed. Polaris will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to inspect the battery connection. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the battery connection inspected at a Polaris dealership. The dealer will inspect and, if necessary, reroute the wiring and alternator cable. The alternator cable will be replaced, as necessary.
Verify each fact at the issuing agency before acting. Recall scope, affected lots, and remediation instructions may be updated by the agency after our last sync.
