Reported risk: Issue:
On a small number of buses, there could be metallic debris in the connectors for the automatic fire sensor system (AFSS). As a result, there could be a short circuit and the AFSS could incorrectly activate and shut down the engine.
Safety Risk:
A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a bus that is disabled could result in a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury.
Corrective Actions:
Prevost will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your bus to a Prevost service center to remove any metallic debris from the AFSS connectors.
