Reported risk: Issue:
Under certain circumstances, a software problem could cause the ''N'' (Neutral) gear position not to display on the instrument cluster. As a result, you may not be aware when the transmission is in neutral. If this happens, and brakes or parking brake aren't used, the vehicle could roll away.
Note: For the Q4 e-tron model, this recall affects both SUV and Sportback models.
Safety Risk:
A vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash.
Corrective Actions:
To reduce the safety risk, the company recommends that you should use the parking brake and confirm the parking brake indicator light is on when you park. The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the brake control unit software.
