Reported risk: Issue:
On certain motorcycles, the wiring for the voltage regulator may have been routed incorrectly. As a result, the wiring could become damaged by contact with the engine crankcase. If this happens, there could be a sudden loss of electrical power, a loss of power to the rear wheel, and you may not be able to restart the motorcycle.
Safety Risk:
A sudden loss of power to the rear wheel could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Harley-Davidson will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to inspect the voltage regulator wiring. It will be re-routed or replaced, as necessary.
