Reported risk: Issue:
On certain vehicles, there may not be enough space between the side of the seat and the interior trim to reach the latch plate for the front seat belt. As a result, it may be difficult to use the seat belts.
Note: This recall only affects 5-door models.
Safety Risk:
Not wearing a seat belt can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to install a sliding clip on each front seat belt. This clip will help to reposition the seat belt latch plate. The dealer will also provide an owner's manual update with instructions for how to use the sliding clip correctly.
