Reported risk: Issue:
On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the controls for the ventilation control system (HVAC) not to work. As a result, you may not be able to defog or defrost the windshield or windows.
Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 12" display screen, SYNC 4 and electronic automatic temperature controls.
Safety Risk:
A windshield that cannot be defogged or defrosted can reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the remote climate control module software.
Verify each fact at the issuing agency before acting. Recall scope, affected lots, and remediation instructions may be updated by the agency after our last sync.
