Reported risk: Issue:
This recall is for certain accessory sport bars sold with new vehicles or as accessory parts sold at General Motors dealerships.
On certain vehicles, the high-mounted stop lamp on the accessory sport bar may not turn on when you apply the brakes. Also, the bar blocks the truck's existing high-mounted stop lamp.
Safety Risk:
A high-mounted stop lamp that does not turn on or that is blocked could make the vehicle less visible. Other drivers may not recognize that your vehicle is braking. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the installation of the sport bar and correct the vehicle wiring, if necessary.
