Reported risk: Issue:
On certain vehicles, the front wheel wells may not be properly sealed. As a result, water can enter the vehicle and cause damage to the electronics. If this happens, the electronics may not work properly, the instrument cluster may not show any information, and the engine could stall.
Note: This problem could cause damp carpets in the front foot wells and fogged windows.
Safety Risk:
A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. An instrument cluster that does not display information about vehicle systems could also increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action:
Mercedes-Benz will contact owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the foot wells and repair any leaks. The dealer will also perform additional repairs that are necessary.
