Reported risk: Issue:
On certain trucks equipped with a fifth wheel trailer hitch, the left-hand mounting bracket for the hitch may be cracked. As a result, the fifth wheel assembly may become loose and could detach while towing a trailer. If this happens, the trailer could separate from the truck.
Note: This recall only affects dual rear wheel trucks with a pickup box and a 6.7 L diesel engine.
Safety Risk:
A trailer that separates from the truck could create the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the left-hand mounting bracket for the fifth wheel trailer hitch. It will be replaced, if necessary.
