Reported risk: Issue:
On certain vehicles, the rear door locks may not latch properly. As a result, a rear door could open while driving. Also, if a person tries to forcefully open a rear door while the child safety lock is activated, the door lock could be damaged. If this happens, passengers may not be able to open the rear doors from inside the vehicle.
Safety Risk:
A door that opens while driving could create an increased risk of injury. A door that cannot be opened from inside the vehicle may make it difficult to get out in an emergency.
Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the rear door locks.
