Reported risk: Certain school buses may fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 217 – Bus Window Retention, Release and Emergency Exits. The release handle for the emergency windows may be difficult to pull, which in the event of a crash or vehicle fire, could hamper passengers' efforts to quickly exit the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will apply dry lubricant to the latch assembly and cycle the handle to work the lubricant in.
