Reported risk: Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. The wiring to the switch within the driver seat belt buckle which monitors whether the seat belt is buckled or unbuckled could become damaged by the seat's height adjuster mechanism. This could result in no audible signal (chime) or indicator light if the buckle is not fastened, or the chime and indicator light staying on when the seat belt is buckled. A lack of audible signal (chime) or indicator light may increase the likelihood of the vehicle being operated with an unfastened seat belt, which would increase the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, reroute the harness to its proper location. Any harnesses with damage to the circuitry will be replaced.
