Reported risk: On certain vehicles, corrosion in the driver and passenger airbag wiring harness connectors could cause a fault in the airbag sensing system. This could result in the airbag light illuminating on the instrument cluster and a "Service Air Bag" message to appear in the Driver Information Centre. Over time, the corrosion could reach a level where the front airbags and seatbelt pretensioners would not deploy in a crash. Failure of these components to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will repair the driver and passenger airbag wiring harness.
