Reported risk: On certain vehicles, if the vehicle is driven with only the secondary latch engaged, the secondary hood latch may fail to hold the hood closed. As a result, the hood could open suddenly and compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield. These issues could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect, clean, lubricate, and modify the bend angle on the secondary hood latch. If significant corrosion is identified during inspection, the latch assembly will be replaced.
