Reported risk: On certain vehicles, the adjustable suspension can be lowered to a ground clearance that when travelling over uneven pavement, a foreign object, or under excessive load at an excessive speed, the protective skid plate can contact the road surface. This would cause the drain plug guard to be worn by multiple impacts with the road, exposing the drain bolt head. This could result in the drain bolt being damaged or pushed-in, thereby piercing the oil pan and releasing oil, which could result in a loss of control from the rear tire passing over the oil spill and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the drain bolt with a differently designed flat drain bolt.
