Reported risk: On certain vehicles, the specified nominal volume of 2.1L (71 oz) of lube oil in the rear axle may not prove sufficient. As such the vehicle could experience a noise (growl, grind) from the rear axle bearing, which could eventually seize. This could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install a rear axle pinion bearing fluid drain-back flow restrictor and a new axle cover with a revised fluid fill level access hole.
