Reported risk: On certain vehicles equipped with a gasoline generator, if the battery in the Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector goes dead or is removed, the detector will not function and therefore cannot warn occupants if CO levels reach a harmful level. Correction: Dealers will install a hard wired 12 volt CO detector in the vehicle. This will ensure the CO detector will have voltage supplied for proper operation when the generator is running.
