Reported risk: Certain Ditch Witch trailers fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 223 - Rear Impact Guard. The manufacturer did not equip the trailer with an adequate rear impact guard during assembly. A rear impact guard is a device installed on or near the rear of a trailer so that, when the trailer is struck from the rear, the device limits the distance that the striking vehicle's front end slides under the rear end of the trailer. Correction: Dealers will install a rear impact guard.
