Reported risk: On certain vehicles, a spacer plate located on the trailer hitch may not fit flush with the rear extension of the hitch. The improper fit of the spacer plate causes the fasteners to be corner loaded when tightened. Under certain conditions, this could cause the hitch to fail during usage, possibly allowing the towed unit to separate from the towing vehicle. Correction: Dealers will replace the spacer plate.
