Reported risk: On certain passenger vehicles the lower steering column shaft coupling may have been installed onto the input shaft of the steering rack with too much clearance between the bottom of the coupling and the steering rack input shaft housing. As a result, the lower steering column shaft coupling could separate from the input shaft of the steering rack, increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will adjust, if necessary, the clearance between the lower steering column shaft coupling and the steering rack input shaft housing, and re-tighten the coupling locking bolt.
