Reported risk: On certain vehicles the accelerator linkage return springs which were not properly stress relieved may break. This could potentially result in the vehicle going to full throttle, and could prevent the throttle from returning to idle when the driver's foot is removed from the accelerator pedal. Should this occur, the vehicle would not decelerate as expected and in the event that minimum stopping distances are required, a vehicle crash could occur without prior warning. Correction: Accelerator linkage return spring(s) will be replaced.
