Reported risk: PICKUP TRUCKS WITH OPTIONAL SIDE-MOUNTED TIRE CARRIERS. THE REINFORCEMENT FOR THE IN-BOX SPARE TIRE CARRIER MAY HAVE BEEN ATTACHED USING INCORRECT HEX HEAD BOLTS. UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS THE OUTER SIDEWALL OF THE SPARE TIRE MAY CONTACT THE SHARP EDGE OF THE BOLT AND POSSIBLY RESULT IN THE ABRASION OF THE SIDEWALL. SUCH ABRASION COULD CAUSE WEAKENING OF THE TIRE SIDEWALL AND WHEN THE SPARE TIRE IS USED AS A REPLACEMENT, IT COULD FAIL WITH SUDDEN LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE AND MIGHT RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.
Verify each fact at the issuing agency before acting. Recall scope, affected lots, and remediation instructions may be updated by the agency after our last sync.
ProductGuru indexes recall and safety-alert records from ~30 public agency registries. We are not lawyers, regulators or product-safety consultants.
