Reported risk: The plastic material of the sandals has an excessive concentration of dibutyl phthalate (DBP), bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and di-‘isononyl’ phthalate (DINP) (measured values up to 28.4%, 0.4% and 0.2% by weight, respectively) and of lead and cadmium (measured values up to 1.2 mg/kg and 0.8 mg/kg, respectively). DBP and DEHP may harm the health by causing possible damage to the reproductive system, while DINP may cause possible damage to the reproductive system and liver. Lead is harmful for human health as it accumulates in the body and may damage the unborn child. Cadmium is harmful to human health because it accumulates in the body, can damage the kidneys and bones and it may cause cancer. The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation.
