Reported risk: This recall was replaced by Transport Canada Recall No. 2022-364. Issue: On certain vehicles, the air bag control unit may not work properly due to a software error. As a result, the airbag warning light and warning messages may not turn on when there is a problem with the airbag system or the pedestrian protection system. Safety Risk: An airbag system that does not work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the airbag control unit software.
