Reported risk: On certain trucks, the driveshaft attachment bolts may not have received adequate tightening torque during vehicle assembly. Should the fasteners loosen and fall out, a driveshaft could detach from the vehicle. This would result in a loss of vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road condition, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Also, a driveshaft separating from the vehicle could strike another vehicle, a stationary object, or a bystander. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will tighten the U-joint fasteners of both driveshafts to the prescribed torque.
