Reported risk: Certain vehicles equipped with a Cummins ISL, L9, ISX15 or X15 engines, are fitted with a starter lock-out relay which could fail over time due to high voltage current from the starter solenoid during start up. In an emergency situation the vehicle would not be able to start, which could increase the risk of injury during firefighting operations. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace the starter lock-out relay. Additionally a diode will be added to the starter solenoid circuit to improve longevity of the lock-out relay.
