Reported risk: Ottawa, October 2, 2011 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to milk and/or wheat and gluten not to consume the PROLAB® brand protein products described below. The affected products contain milk and/or wheat and gluten which are not declared on the label. The following PROLAB® brand protein products are affected by this alert: These products have been distributed in Ontario and possibly nationally. They may have been sold by retail stores, mail order and direct delivery. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk or wheat/gluten. The US manufacturer, Prolab Nutrition Inc. (Prolab), Chatsworth, CA , is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is working with the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) and the Canadian importers to have the affected product removed from the marketplace.
