Reported risk: The crib's drop-side hardware can break or become damaged, causing the drop-side to detach. If the drop-side detaches, it could create a space between the side of the crib and the mattress. Infants and toddlers could roll into this space and become entrapped, which could lead to suffocation or strangulation, or they could fall out of the crib. Health Canada and Isis Inc. have not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these cribs in Canada. Parents and caregivers are reminded to check their baby's drop-side crib regularly. They are instructed not to use it if any parts are loose or missing, or if there are any signs of damage to the drop-side hardware. Only parts obtained from the original manufacturer must be used for repairs. Do not repair broken parts with tape, wire, or rope. Contact the manufacturer if replacement parts or additional instructions are needed.
