Reported risk: Health Canada requires that infant teether fillings not contain any living micro-organisms. Testing by Health Canada of the lobster teether has revealed that the liquid filling of the teether may be contaminated with the bacteria Burkholderia tropica . These bacteria generally do not cause illness. However, the bacteria may cause infection in children with weakened immune systems, if the teether is punctured and the liquid filling from the teether is ingested. Neither Health Canada nor Infantino have received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.
