Reported risk: Dorel Distribution Canada and Transport Canada wish to advise the public of a potential problem area involving the infant restraint system models listed above produced between May 12, 2005 and September 12, 2006, inclusively. On May 12, 2005, the length of the retaining strap (also referred to as the "pigtail" strap) that attaches the UAS belt to the detachable base was shortened to 23 cm (9 in.) from 38 cm (15 in.) in length. The change to a shorter "pigtail" strap may result in some difficulty when installing the infant car seat using the base and the UAS belt in certain vehicles. Specifically, the shorter "pigtail" strap may prevent the UAS hook from reaching the vehicle anchorage.
