Phthalates are a family of esters of phthalic acid widely used as plasticizers in PVC and other plastics, as well as in cosmetics fragrances. Several members (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DIBP) are SVHC-listed under REACH and restricted in toys and child-care articles. The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) lists them on the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern.
Always verify each substance's current regulatory status at the primary register before relying on it.
